Combining roaring dance-hall excitement, sophisticated and fast-paced entertainment and the red-hot musical intensity of an after-hours supper club, Haberdashery takes its position as the crown jewel of New Jersey ’s capitol-city nightlife scene. Haberdashery is honored to present its premiere blues event with legendary guitarist Hubert Sumlin and iconic New York vocalist David Johansen at the George Washington Ballroom in Trenton ’s restored War Memorial. Haberdashery’s night of blues promises to encapsulate the party atmosphere of a Delta juke joint, the sonic intensity of a South Side club, and the world-class musicianship of road-tested veteran artists. With the same spirited whirlwind of exuberance typified by the holiday season, Sumlin and Johansen, backed by New Jersey’s own award-winning blues guitarist Billy Hector (and his band), will stage an unforgettable night of sizzling, uplifting electric blues. Trenton ’s Paul Plumeri and Joe Zook will kick-off the night at 8pm with an acoustic blues set. |

The Fire, the Passion, The Soul …
When Sun Records founder Sam Phillips first heard Howlin’ Wolf sing, he spoke the now famous words: “This is where the soul of man never dies.”
If Phillips had ever met Texas guitar great Chris Duarte he might have been moved to offer a similar insight into the eternity of the blues, Duarte’s triumph over personal adversity and the firebrand passion to which this blues-rock guitar master brings to his music.
In a celebrity-driven industry rife with Faustian deals served up to the public via false advertising, Duarte has demonstrated that his soul – and his love of the blues – is not for sale. When listening to the Chris Duarte Band’s new record, Vantage Point (Blues Bureau/Shrapnel), one senses Duarte’s rejuvenated spirit, renewed creative breadth, an ability to tap into the blues’ timelessness, and Duarte’s rekindling of the youth exuberance he possessed during the making of his breakthrough debut Texas Sugar/Strat Magik. |
